You may have experienced problems with broadband overnight and again early
this morning.
Last night the broadband network went down twice, the first time for only
a short time, the second one longer, before coming back on at around 11.00
pm. Our contact with Telecom revealed that there was some issue at
Telecom’s Mayoral Drive exchange that was impacting on the connection
between the Telecom and KCI/PlaNet networks.
It appears the problem has been isolated down to the Telecom ATM
connection with the KCI/PlaNet network (ie the main Telecom broadband pipe
from its exchanges) and Telecom technicians have been working to get the
switch to function correctly and in a stable manner.
The network appeared to be working ok overnight before going up and down
twice this morning after 7.00 am, before going down again. We have
escalated the issue beyond logging the fault with Telecom. The system has
been restored 10am and we are hopeful that Telecom has fully restored
their switch in an enduring manner and we'll keep you posted as necessary.
Our apologies for the inconvenience. Rest assured that our team has been
working hard at our end to do whatever we can to ensure the service is
restored by Telecom to the level to which you are accustomed.
