Asia Down Under

This weeks episode of Asia D Under on Thurs 29th Nov at 11pm (TVone) is a
30 minute special featuring personal interviews with 4 immigrant youth;
that is 4 x 13 year olds, including an Afghani boy, a Chinese girl, an
Indian boy and girl recently arrived in NZ.

This programme will be special - it's shot differently from any other
programme - no reporter asking questions. The interviews are straight down
the camera barrel - with the subjects. The Afghani boy talks candidly about
his experiences in Afghanistan, his father imprisoned by the Teleban, given
up for dead - the family reuniting, the war, how he misses his home and
culture and how he feels about being in NZ. All the interviewees don't pull
punches about their experiences in this country. Next week's programme will
revisit these children with a short forum run by them - covering issues
raised by their interviews.

Meantime... the socalled `war on terrorism' is to be extended to three new
countries, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen. Creating no doubt another wave of
deaths, destruction and refugees while terrorists move fluidly around the
globe finding ample new recruits to their violent ways and means.
