GE ACTION UPDATE 31/5/2002

IMPORTANT DATES:

GE Strategy Hui: 15/16 June, Tapu te Ranga Marae, Wellington.
All individuals and groups from around the country who have time and energy
to commit to the GE Free campaign are invited to attend. Options of
catering, accommodation, and low cost available. Contact
tremane.barr@clear.net.nz (03) 981 5235 for information and registration
forms.

National GE Visibility Day: Saturday 22 June
The day to make sure the issue is visible in your area. Groups all around
the country will be doing street stalls, hanging banners on homes, cars,
shops, postering, marches, concerts etc. Let Tremane (details above) know
what your group is doing for co-ordination and publicity purposes.

Election:
It is possible that the election could be as early as 27 July. Deadlines
inside parliament have been brought forward to make this a very real
possibility. It's important to have groups all around the country ready and
confident to be active during and beyond the election, whenever it is.

POSTERS:

*Labour & GE: 3 different posters revealing and publicising Labour's
policies and research on GE. Contact melmaibpete@lycos.com if you would
like to receive copies by attachment, or if no email contact, the post.

*Advertising June 22nd events: series of 7 radical, interesting and
thought-provoking posters (A3 format). There is a blank area so groups can
reproduce them and advertise their own events. The idea is to put up the
posters one at a time and to change them over once or twice a week to
create a global picture of the issue. Send odile@xtra.co.nz in Hawkes Bay
your postal address to receive copies. Donation appreciated to help with
costs.

BANNERS:
*A Wellington group is holding a banner-painting day early June to produce
large quantities of semi-professional banners, with a variety of slogans.
They will be available to groups around the country at a very low cost.
Details available in the next action update. If you have a very catchy
slogan that should be considered for use on the banners, send it to
nelsonmela@scs.vuw.ac.nz

Recommended retail $1, wholesale price to be returned 66c, means 34c profit
per sticker for your group. To order contact (09) 630 6317 ext 843 during
