Venue:            Green Party office, 308 Great North Road, Grey Lynn
Cost:               none

Two 30 minute documentaries plus some additional short video items.

Iraq: Voices From the Streets
Synopsis: Prompted by fears of an impending war, US Senator Abourezk and Congressman Rahall visited Iraq in September 2002 to speak with Iraqi officials and ease tensions between the two governments. As Abourezk and Rahall meet with Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister, Tariq Aziz, and others, filmmakers Saul Landau and Sonia Angulo record these encounters and take their own journey to the streets to hear from those who have been and will be affected most by war: the Iraqi people. Listening to the thoughts and feelings of the Iraqi people on this new US threat serves as a reminder of why war is not justified and why peaceful negotiations are needed.

Plan B: Peace (an  Auckland Indymedia documentary)
Synopisis: A documentary about the anti-war movement in Aotearoa and the 15th February  peace actions in Auckland and around the country to stop the war on Iraq as part of the global peace movement. Indymedia activists from Auckland came together to make this 25 minute doco in just 12 days. It has screened on community television around the country. If youve missed its recent screenings on Triangle TV this will be a chance to catch up. Filmmakers will be present.

Other short items are likely to include John Pilgers controversial TV interview with Kim Hill from Thursday 20th March and a video of the inspiring and informative speech given by Jane Kelsey at the Green Policy conference at the end of January 2003 (concerning GATS) if there is time and interest for further viewing after the main two documentaries.

Greens Foreign Affairs spokesperson Keith Locke will be present for discussion about the war.  Refreshments will be available.
