Stop The Pipline Meeting

The group who met last night on the Waikato pipeline, have confirmed the
date of a public meeting. "We don't want to drink Waikato water - stop the
pipeline!"

The date will be: Wed. 8 May, 7.30pm, The Fickling Centre, Cnr Mt Eden and
Mt Albert Rds, Three Kings.

Suggested speakers are:

*Joel Cayford (confirmed)

* Microbiologist Gillian Lewis

*2 speakers from the 5 marae in the South Waikato who are opposing the
Hampton Downs landfill.

*Mered Barrar from CAP (covering an update on the Auckland Regional Water
Review) (confirmed)

*Penny Bright from WPG (covering the implications for water services with
GATS) (confirmed)

It was agreed that we would invite Jeanette Fitzsimons from the Green Party
and a speaker from the Waitakere City Council to speak from the floor. The
idea of the meeting was to begin with information-sharing, then focus on
organising action that people can take. At the meeting we were all united
on not wanting the Waikato water
and looking at what action people could take to stop it.
