URGENT CALL FOR ACTION


In order to initiate the Legal Action to stop the spraying we all
need to write to the Waitakere City Council Manager of Field Services to
ask him to abate the nuisance (the spraying in
this case) under the Health Act.


This is a simple regulatory procedure that doesn't need the Council's
approval. It is the Manager of Field Services' job to issue abatement
notices. That is the first stage of taking action under the Health Act.
If MAF refuses to abate the nuisance then Council has to decide whether
to go to the District Court. (If you live in Auckland City or on the
North Shore you will need to write to the equivalent person at either of
those City Councils. At this stage we do not have a name and address.

Max Wilde needs as many personal accounts of health problems caused by
the aerial spraying as he can get as soon as possible. Once he has them
he can then assess the need to call MAF to abate the nuisance under the
Health Act.


Email can't be used as evidence. Therefore you must send a signed,
personal letter to the above address.


Please tell him:

1) What your symptoms are/were

2) Why you believed that the aerial spray had caused them

3) What you did about it

4) If you contacted your doctor, what s/he said or did

5) If you contacted MAF or Aer'aqua, what they told you and did about
it

6) How aerial spraying impacts on your life.


If you have put up with symptoms and not complained it is also important
to tell him. He knows you can't prove that it's the spray that causes the
symptoms but he will, from the weight of letters, be able to see that it
is causing a nuisance.



Please pass this message on to everyone you can think of. A lack of
letters to this person will hold up the process of getting the spraying
stopped.


Also please send a copy to Hana Blackmore of the Community Advisory Group
who is collecting all the data on people's health effects (even if you
have already filled in her Health Reporting Form).

SOME MORE URGENT ACTION


Caucus meets this Tuesday at Parliament.


We need to lobby all the Labour MPs before then - deluge them. They have
power in caucus.

Tell them: "The health risks of aerial spraying have been underestimated
in MAF's Health Risk Analysis. We need to stop aerial spraying while a
full analysis of health effects is carried out by an independent body."

Tell them your experiences/views of being aerially sprayed with Foray
48B. Don't forget to tell them that AERIAL SPRAYING EQUALS NO
LABOUR VOTE. I know many of you will not be voting Labour - BUT
HAVE YOU TOLD THEM SO?

HELP NEEDED

Now that areas on the North Shore are being sprayed help is
needed to distribute WASP's Information Sheet SOME THINGS YOU
SHOULD KNOW ABOUT THE AERIAL SPRAYING. So far all these areas
have had is the MAF propaganda in their letterboxes. Helpers are needed
to photocopy and distribute the sheet to letterboxes in Whenuapai and
Hobsonville. Also to stand outside the Beach Haven school at home time
and hand out the sheet to parents. If you can

People are also needed to write letters to The Editor,
North Shore Times Advertiser, PO Box 33235, Takapuna, or Fax: 486
6700 to let people know about the effects of the spray - how it
has affected you, to counterract all the MAF propaganda.
