                  15th November Buy
                  Nothing Have Picnic
Buy Nothing Day has been going for many years, started in USA
                  and spread.
If you're offended by the commercialisation of everything you
                  might like to
join others who can do something by doing nothing on Friday
                  23 November,
 and picnic.

 When - Friday Nov 23 2001 2pm - 8pm. If raining - Sat Nov 24

Where - just north of the carpark, North Piha Beach, Auckland

What - A community oriented picnic to celebrate Buy Nothing
                  Day

Bring - Homegrown, homemade or locally bought goodies, frisbee,
                  togs etc.
(Buy food and petrol the day before!) Who - All people working
                  for positive
change in communities, and those who support them.

Why - BND targets overconsumption and encourages community participation.
Campaigners often don't take the time to socialise with those
                  they work
alongside, so the Activists Picnic is an afternoon for like-minded
                  people
supporting or involved in positive social change. Come, blob
                  out, and don't
 spend anything!
'Shop-talk' is allowed but the emphasis is on fun and connecting
                  with people.

One of BND's aims is to challenge the belief that marketers
                  and advertisers
promote, that acts of shopping fulfil a person or give lasting
                  happiness.
We aim to focus attention on what DOES fulfil, and living a
                  life that
 achieves this.
