Everyday Ethics

A forum on ethics from a Human Rights perspective.

Margaret Bedggood will chair the evening, including addresses by Tim Dare,
Lana Hart, Carl Rowling, Tracey McIntosh, Mary O Hagan and Alison
Blaiklock. The topic of ethics will be addressed with reference to the
speakers specific areas of expertise, including the following:

BUSINESS, WOMEN, CHILDREN, INDIGENOUS CULTURES AND MENTAL HEALTH.

Background to the Human Rights Network

Since the fiftieth anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights
in 1998 there has been a growing commitment to the development of a human
rights movement in New Zealand. People from a range of NGOs have
established the Human Rights Network (HRN) as a contribution to this
process. The Network is open to any person or organisation (other than
government agency or political party) sharing a commitment to
internationally-agreed human rights and supporting the objectives of the
Network.

Some 170 people and organisations - linked by email - are now informally
part of the Network which has regional groups in Auckland, Wellington and
Christchurch. It was launched in Wellington on Human Rights Day 20000 with
Sir Paul Reeves as Patron. A Board of Trustees is currently being
finalised, with documentation now in the legal process. The HRN has a
