GE Docs Screen Again
What: Screening of GE documentaries When: Tuesday 14th October, 12.30 - 2:00pm Where: Unitec campus. Lecture theatre two, Building one, Gate one, Carrington Rd., Pt. Chev.
There will be a second screening of some documentaries that screened recently at an Auckland Independent Media event about the GE debate.
They are being screened at the Unitec campus mainly for the benifit of the Maori design students, and also any other interested people. There will be an open door policy to allow students to see at least some of the documentaries between classes, public welcome.
KIA TUPATO Documentary short by local filmmaker Michelle McGregor exploring Maori views on the environment and genetic engineering through interviews with the late Sir John Turei. (11 mins.)
HOMEGROWN Homegrown profiles the use of successful alternatives to the use of BT maize in Kenya and the reaction of the biotech companies to this use of cheap, natural alternatives to genetic engineering. This kind of educational aid is enabling the local communities to maintain their traditional agricultural culture (8 mins.)
