Answer Blowing In The Wind ?
posted 4th August 2000

Vision Quest Windelectric, Inc., of Pincher Creek, Alberta, Canada said June 22 that the installation of two wind turbines to supply ENMAX Corp. is complete, and that electricity is now flowing between the new facilities and the Alberta grid. Vision Quest erected the two Vestas V47s last week and commissioned them this week. The turbines are the largest yet in Alberta, with peak output of 660 kW and a rotor diameter of 47 meters on towers that are 50 meters high. Each turbine produces the equivalent energy per year that 300 homes would use. One unit was installed near Pincher Creek, while the other is near Hill Spring, in southwest Alberta.

The zero-emissions wind energy from the new turbines supplies the "Greenmax" green power sales program operated by ENMAX in Calgary. This program offers ENMAX's residential and commercial customers the option to buy blocks of wind energy, rather than electricity from fossil fuelsources. Vision Quest said now has six power plants in operation, with 14 more scheduled for installation in September.. .rs and posters with messages that demand jobs and an end to poverty.
