World Environment Day 5 June, NZ And AK World Environment Day
Celebrations will be taking place around the world. In the Auckland
Region on Queens Birthday Weekend listed below are events that
maybe of interest. The celebrations will have to be confined
to local and people's organisations. Politicians, corporations
and high academia have nothing to be proud of in respect of
the global environment.
Central Government NZ
The winners of New Zealand's Green Ribbon Awards will be announced
on World Environment Day. These annual awards are made by the
Minister for the Environment to recognise outstanding contributions
by individuals,
organisations or businesses to protecting and improving the
quality of our environment. The winners of the Rio+10 competition
for schools will also be announced on World Environment Day.
Entries will be displayed at Te Papa, Wellington, in conjunction
with the "Information to Motivation" conference on
the state of the environment (5-7 June).
TOUR OF ENVIRONMENTAL BUILDING
Tour of the New Lynn Community Centre. Better Buildings for
Waitakere City Waitakere City Council invites you on a guided
tour of its new community centre in the heart of New Lynn. The
centre incorporates a number of environmental design principles,
including innovative stormwater treatment and energy efficiency,
reflecting Waitakere City's Eco City vision. 4th June Tour of
the New Lynn Community Centre, 4pm, free.

The Auckland Regional Council invite you to attend the ARC E-Awards
ceremony held at the Hopetoun Alpha, 19 Beresford St, Auckland

AT THE ZOO 4TH JUNE
Auckland City's event is at Auckland Zoo on Monday 4 June between
10am-3pm; the website doesn't have the programme on yet as it's
just being finalised (should be on by end of week), but we'll
be having a few performances of Blowhemia (flies with urban
chic), looking at human activities and effects on the environment,
a scavenger trail, displays, stilt walkers, banner painting,
etc.
ON THE SHORE
4th June (Monday) at SmithsBush Takapuna. Events in park with
performances.
