If Dollar Vote Pressure Called For
Posted 24th March 2001

The hasty move by US President Bush to pull out of the Kyotoa Climate talks is transparently in the interests of his corporate supporters and against the interests of everybody else. This is why people world-wide are being asked to swap business from the supporters of Bush to alternatives and thus apply pressure to the real source of the US President's undemocracy. Below is a list of the Top Twenty Republican donors with global consumer brands. The site setup to coordinate this campaign is at www.boycottbush.net, which allows individuals to influence the global politics of climate change. A new website, set up by UK-based campaign organisation ECRA, is seeking to show that by targeting the companies that bankrolled Bush to victory in November, individuals can apply pressure on behalf of the rest of the planet in Bonn talks this July. The website above lists the top twenty corporate donors to the Republican Party with consumer brands, while at the same time noting more ethical alternatives. "These companies have bought access at the highest level," says Rob Harrison of ECRA. "Now let them use it to tell Bush he is wrong on this one."
